What better way to impress your guests at the start of an evening’s entertainment than to greet them with two Celtic torchbearers as they arrive. Dressed in the full Highland plaid and each brandishing a mediaeval torch they will offer a warm, Scottish welcome to your guests.

Scotland’s fighting past is infamous, the Romans failed to conquer us and for centuries England was kept at bay, so no Scottish evening is complete without a demonstration of that warrior skill. Whether with swords, axes or daggers, our trained fighters can dazzle any audience.

Scotland’s long dark winter nights are the perfect time to pour yourself a wee dram and sit round a warm, open fire listening to stories of old. With connections to the Scottish Storytelling Association we can delight your guests with some of the best storytellers our nation has to offer. They will take you back to the time of legends -when giants roamed the land and heroes fought for the heart of a beautiful maiden.

Transporting guests can be a tedious task so why not hire some rugged highwaymen to ambush your coach. As they attempt to ‘rob’ the passengers, heroic rescuers will fight off the attackers and safely guide the party back onto its route.

With its stunning scenery and romantic castles, Scotland has become the ideal setting for a perfect wedding. However, as more and more people choose a Celtic wedding you need to make sure that you have something truly unique to offer. The Northmen can help you achieve this. Our spectacular sword displays have been highly successful at weddings. You can have Highlanders fight for the honour of the bride or, in keeping with the true role of the best man, our fighters can burst in to protest at the wedding and be fought off by the best man’s champion. Whatever you choose, you can be sure it will make it a day to remember.

The Northmen are able to offer any of the above services in a range of time periods, reflecting the different civilisations and events that have shaped Scotland’s culture. So if you would like to be unique and offer more than the Victorian image of Scotland then simply choose from the following options.

Celtic – Re-live the time of the Celts, a time of contradictions, of great warriors and fine art. Woad painted warriors will once more take on the might of the Roman Empire battling for the freedom of Caledonia.

Dark Age – Fur-clad warrior chieftains will fight for the honour of their tribe before your guests very eyes.

Viking – No horned helmets here! Two Viking raiders will take part in a show of strength and skill with the broad-axe, to the cheers and support of your guests.

Mediaeval – The age of Wallace and Bruce, when Scotland was plunged into a dangerous political power struggle, two patriots ambush a small party of English soldiers.

Jacobite – For the traditional image of Scotland, the Highland clans, let your guests witness the pursuit of two Jacobite soldiers as they fight free from the clutches of the Redcoats after the battle of Culloden.

18th Century – Enter the era of romance, with devilish outlaws risking their lives as Highwaymen and Smugglers. Let your guests watch as the quick-witted rogues duel their way to escape from His Majesty’s Customs and Excise.

Whilst The Northmen are a new organisation, each of its fighters has at least five years experience in providing sword displays to the corporate entertainment world, combined with backgrounds in stage-craft, theatre and film. Our combination of experience and variety means that we can offer you the very best in entertainment – professionalism combined with the spectacular.
